<Measuring the Diameter of a Hole> After machining a cylindrical hole, there may be a need to check if the hole has been correctly processed. Specifically: - Is the diameter of the hole not too large or too small? - Is the depth of the hole not too deep or too shallow? Additionally, there may be cases where the hole is required to be a perfect circle. If contouring or profile machining is performed using an end mill rather than simple reaming, it is necessary to check for roundness. <Measurement Methods> In general, visual inspection is possible, but if that is insufficient, the following measurement methods can be used: 1. Measuring with calipers (0.1mm increments) 2. Measuring with a hole micrometer (0.01mm increments) 3. Comparative measurement with block gauges and cylinder gauges (0.001mm increments) However, using general-purpose gauges as mentioned above can sometimes lead to issues such as poor workability depending on the product. By preparing dedicated gauges, it is possible to easily obtain the same measurement results regardless of who is measuring. <Image> A specially made caliper gauge for measuring shallow holes with a large diameter (It can measure hole diameters of approximately Φ1,000.)
